The Minden Community Food Centre, formerly the Minden Food Bank, was established in 1993. Since then we have served our community by providing food, cooking classes, clothing, toys, books, medical equipment, school supplies and other household goods for those who are in need. Some key times of year for us are:
- August- During the month of August we gather school supplies to give to parents with school age kids, so that their children can go to the first day of school knowing that they will have everything they need for the year.
- Christmas- At Christmas we make over 170 hampers. These Christmas Hampers include all the food, that they will need for the week around Christmas as well as toys for each child in the home.
- Floods- Although we do not deal with them every year when the flood waters come we work alongside all those who are called to help. We provide relief centres, cook hot meals for those who are affected, and collect/distribute bedding, towels, toiletries and food for anyone who needs it.
