HCFC: Community Gardens

Knowing where your food comes from and what goes into it is something of benefit to us all. Too often we rely on food that travels great distances to get to us when local, fresher options are available. Maybe even from your own backyard!
Until the mid 1940's when the first supermarkets were introduced, growing your own food was commonplace. For many, that is a lost art. We believe that knowing about our food, how to grow it, how to cook it, what's in it and having enough of it is critical.
Our Vision:
Until the mid 1940's when the first supermarkets were introduced, growing your own food was commonplace. For many, that is a lost art. We believe that knowing about our food, how to grow it, how to cook it, what's in it and having enough of it is critical.
Our Vision:
- Partner with community garden groups and farmers to provide locally sourced healthy food to those that are food insecure.
- Create programming and opportunities for anyone to learn how to grow (and prepare) their own food.
- Work with our partners to support community garden projects that benefit the community.
